The Energies of July
As we bask in the radiant light following the June solstice, and journey deeper into Cancer season, this month’s energies are inviting us to honor both growth and grounding; celebrating the energy rising within us while also rooting deeper in what sustains us. July is calling us to practice daily rituals that nourish us, laying the solid groundwork for what the second half of the year will bring.
Major Themes this Month
Igniting Change
July arrives with an invitation to embrace transformation from the inside out. This energy encourages us to listen deeply to what is stirring beneath the surface. As clarity emerges around what is no longer aligned, we are supported in taking courageous steps toward new possibilities, trusting that meaningful change begins with honoring our intuition.
Rooting in the Present
Amid fluid movement and growth, July reminds us of the power of being fully present. This is a time to slow down, nourish ourselves, and cultivate awareness of what is unfolding in the sacred now. In honoring the present moment, we are able to ground deeper into what sustains us, extending our roots so that we can grow more fully into our expansive future selves.
Building Foundations
July’s energy encourages us to tend to the structures that nourish our lives—our routines, relationships, boundaries, and sense of home within ourselves. As we strengthen what supports us, we create a stable base from which future growth can emerge. Transformation is most sustainable when it is supported by a strong foundation.
Activating the Root Chakra
The root chakra, known as Muladhara, is the energy center located at the base of the spine, towards your perineum. As the first major chakra in the chakra system, this is the center of our stability, security, and basic needs; it represents our foundation. When Muladhara is out of balance, you might feel a sense of restlessness, lethargy, or experience feelings of lack and instability. To practice activating your root, begin to draw your awareness down the spine, focusing on pressing your sit bones into the earth. As you actively press down, feel the reverberation of energy lifting you up, finding a sense of grounding through the lower body and a sense of buoyancy in the upper body.
