Find Your Voice. Honor Your Boundaries.
Major Themes this Month
Use your Voice to Make Change.
Key Dates: September 1st & 18th
September invites us to become more intentional with the words we speak and the truths we choose to share. Notice where you may have been holding back, swallowing your feelings, or making yourself smaller in order to be accepted. This is a month to clear the energetic clutter from your throat and give voice to what is ready to be expressed. When we speak from a place of authenticity, our words have the power to create ripples far beyond ourselves.
Create Space for What Matters.
Key Dates: September 10th & 22nd
As we transition into a new season, we’re invited to take a closer look at how we’re spending our time, energy, and attention. What habits, commitments, or relationships are nourishing you—and which ones are quietly taking up precious energy? Use this energy to refine your routines, strengthen your boundaries, and create more room for what truly matters. When we release what no longer fits, we create space for something new to take root.
Harness the Fire & Pursue the Impossible.
Key Dates: September 26th
The energy of the Aries Full Moon asks us to reconnect with our courage, our desire, and the part of us that is willing to take a leap. What would you pursue if you stopped waiting for permission or worrying about whether it was possible? This is an invitation to harness the fire and take bold action toward the life you’re imagining. Let yourself dream bigger, move beyond old patterns, and pursue the impossible— something within you is ready to begin.

Activating the Throat Chakra
The throat chakra, or Vishuddha, is the energy center associated with communication, self-expression, truth, and the ability to be heard. Located at the center of the throat, it serves as a bridge between our inner world and the way we express ourselves outwardly. When this energy center is open, we feel more confident speaking our truth, setting boundaries, expressing our needs, and listening deeply to others. When the throat chakra is blocked, it can show up as difficulty communicating, fear of speaking up, people-pleasing, holding back emotions, or feeling like your voice doesn’t matter. You can begin to activate and clear this energy center through chanting, singing, humming, breathwork, journaling, and practicing honest & compassionate communication. Give yourself the permission to let your truth be heard.

Breathwork to Support the Throat Chakra
Ujjayi pranayama is a slow, steady breathing technique created by gently narrowing the back of the throat as you breathe in and out through the nose. The soft, whispering sound of the breath brings awareness to the throat and can help cultivate a sense of spaciousness, clarity, and connection to your voice. To practice, inhale slowly through your nose while gently constricting the back of your throat, creating a subtle ocean-like sound. Exhale through the nose maintaining the slight constriction at the back of the throat, keeping the breath smooth and even. Allow the breath to become rhythmic and effortless, using the sound as an anchor for your awareness. As you practice, imagine each breath clearing and opening the throat, creating space to speak, listen, and express yourself with greater ease.

Chanting for the Throat Chakra
HAM (pronounced hahm) is the traditional bija, or seed mantra, associated with the throat chakra, Vishuddha. Its resonant sound can help draw awareness into the throat while creating a vibration that supports a sense of openness, clarity, and expression. To practice, take a slow, deep inhale and, on the exhale, chant “HAAAAAAM”, allowing the sound to begin in the breath and vibrate gently through the throat and upper chest. Repeat for several rounds, letting each vibration soften tension and bring your awareness back to your voice. As you chant, imagine a luminous blue light expanding through your throat, clearing away what no longer needs to be held and creating space for your truth to emerge. Let the final round dissolve into silence and notice what feels different when you give yourself permission to simply be heard.

Mudra of the Month
Akasha Mudra, sometimes called the Mudra of Space, is a hand gesture traditionally associated with the element of ether or space—the expansive quality that allows sound, communication, and awareness to move freely.
To practice, bring the middle finger and thumb together, keeping the other three fingers gently extended, and rest your hands comfortably on your thighs with your palms facing upward. Close your eyes and breathe slowly, allowing your attention to settle into the space around and within the throat. Because the throat chakra is associated with communication, expression, and the element of space, Akasha Mudra can be a supportive practice for creating a sense of openness and spaciousness around your voice. Use it while meditating, chanting, or practicing breathwork, especially when you’re exploring what wants to be expressed or released. Allow the gesture to remind you that your voice deserves space—and that there is space for your truth to be heard.

Herbs to Support you this Month

Herbs to Support the Throat

Slippery Elm Bark
Slippery Elm bark has a long history of traditional herbal use for soothing and coating irritated tissues, making it a beautiful ally for a month centered around the throat. The inner bark contains mucilage, which becomes slippery when mixed with water and can create a gentle, soothing sensation as it moves through the throat space. Energetically, slippery elm invites us to soften, nourish, and create space where there may have been tension or constriction.

Marshmallow Root
Marshmallow root has a long history of traditional herbal use for soothing and coating the throat, making it a beautiful ally for a month devoted to voice, expression, and communication. The root becomes soft and slippery when prepared with water, offering a gentle, comforting quality to the throat. Energetically, Marshmallow root invites us to soften, slow down, and create space for what wants to be expressed — rather than forcing words before they are ready.

Throat Chakra Herbal Tea Recipe
A soothing, warming herbal blend created to support your September Throat Chakra practice. Slippery Elm bark and Marshmallow root are traditionally valued for their gentle, soothing qualities, while fennel, cinnamon, and orange bring warmth, sweetness, and brightness to the blend. Together, these herbs create a comforting ritual for slowing down, softening around resistance, and creating space for authentic expression.
Ingredients
- 1 tsp slippery elm bark
- 1 tsp marshmallow root
- 1 tsp fennel seeds (lightly crushed)
- 2 tsp cinnamon bark
- 2 tsp orange peel
To Prepare:
Combine the herbs and mix well. For each cup of tea, use approximately 1–2 teaspoons of the blend in 8–10 ounces of hot water. Cover and steep for 10–15 minutes, then strain and sip slowly.
As you drink, bring your awareness to your throat and take a few slow, spacious breaths. Imagine the warmth of the tea creating softness and spaciousness in your throat, allowing whatever is ready to be released within to rise naturally. You might pair your tea with journaling, humming, chanting HAM, or a few minutes of quiet meditation.
Herbal note: Slippery Elm and Marshmallow root may slow the absorption of oral medications, so it’s best to take them separately from medications. If you’re pregnant, nursing, taking medication, or managing a health condition, consult a qualified healthcare professional before using this blend.
